The articles in this issue focus on 1) the introduction of a new model of data collection for terrorism research involving social media 2) the “mainstreaming” of beheadings among jihadists, and the imitation of this act by other extremists; 3) public opinion on the root causes of terrorism and the objectives of terrorists, based on a case study of Boko Haram, and 4) the results of a 2017 social media campaign focused on Iraq that attempted to counter the so-called Islamic State, including its recruitment and other online propaganda activities. The edition also includes several book reviews, a research note and more.
