This paper discusses the potential impact of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections on the international financial system. As the paper’s author sees it, lingering uncertainties about US economic policy under Trump could contribute to continued volatility in stock markets. The author further cautions that a tilt towards US protectionism could threaten the established financial system by encouraging competitive currency devaluations and currency wars.
