This report examines how the US should manage the linked and changing dynamics of three interrelated potential pathways to crisis or conflict in its relations with Russia. More specifically, these three relate to 1) how to shape the future course of US-Russian relations; 2) how to avoid tensions in peacetime escalating into crisis and conflict; and 3) how to avoid the possibility that conflict could lead to attacks against each other’s homeland and even nuclear war.
