This publication looks at the history of financial difficulties faced by UN peacekeeping missions and how member states calculate the size of their budgetary contributions. The text's author also provides recommendations on how to help place such missions on a firmer financial footing, which involve 1) the creation of a cash reserve for peacekeeping; 2) the consolidation of peacekeeping mission accounts; 3) how to incentivize budgetary discipline, and more.
