Following 5 years of capped defense spending, this paper examines President Trump’s proposed defense budget increase of $54 billion. While democrats and republicans alike have raised concerns about the budget spike, this text’s author argues that the proposal marks an important first step towards correcting the shortcomings that exist in America’s armed forces.
