The vast Eurasian space connecting China and Europe lies at the heart of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), particularly as geopolitical tensions in the Indo-Pacific are rising and the Russian-Chinese partnership is deepening. The initiative has always been difficult to conceptualize and is now severely affected by the pandemic.
