Posturing, repression and a distaste for facts: the world's strongman regimes have dealt with the coronavirus pandemic in much the same way they deal with everything else. The strongmen in the post-Soviet space have taken a number of measures to prevent the spread of alternative information and opinions, asserts the CSS' Benno Zogg for Sud Ouest. Some of the tools that they have put in place to that end, such as surveillance technology, may remain a permanent measure even after the crisis (in French).
