Posturing, repression and a distaste for facts: the world's strongman regimes have dealt with the Covid pandemic in much the same way they deal with everything else, analysts say. The CSS’ Benno Zogg told AFP that the strongmen in the post-Soviet space have taken a number of measures to prevent the spread of alternative information and opinions. Some tools they put in place to that end, such as surveillance technology, may remain a permanent measure even after the crisis.
