The worsening geopolitical threat has far-reaching consequences for education, research and innovation (ERI). As a cross-cutting issue, science diplomacy links foreign, ERI and economic policy and, given geopolitical developments, also security policy. Against this background, this article outlines the conceptual framework of the still controversial term and provides an overview of Swiss science diplomacy.
