This issue looks at the security dimension of oil and gas pipelines in the South Caucasus with a special focus on export pipelines and Nabucco. It shows how energy supplies and transportation routes affect and alter regional security dynamics. The major thesis of the first contribution is that pipelines which could have promoted peaceful outcomes are in fact facilitating greater tension. The second contribution looks at the large number of problems hindering the construction of the Nabucco pipeline.
