The articles in this issue examine current developments in the relationship between religion and politics in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. All three country reports point out that most recent public debates deal with the contribution of religious groups to civil society. Although all three societies have developed a general stability, the challenges in the relationship between civil society, religion, and democracy depend on local circumstances.
