In recent years, the taking in of asylum seekers has presented local government as well as civilian actors with significant challenges. Such actors have developed new approaches, changed existing structures and processes, and established new forms of cooperation to address this issue. These developments have led to an increase in research projects. In May 2019, a two-day workshop in Konstanz addressed this recent research, allowing practitioners to discuss both empirical research methods and how their research findings can be implemented.
