This issue assesses the Russian 2006 counterterrorism law and terrorist trials in Dagestan. Although the 2006 counterterrorism law tightens existing regulations, the first article questions the law's effectiveness because it does not address Russia's main terrorism problems. Investigating terrorist trials in Dagestan, the second article attributes the low conviction rate of suspected terrorists to the refusal of local courts to accept fake charges against innocent people.
