This paper examines the past and current status of Australian-Indian relations. The text’s author contends that although the strategic relationship was often strained in the past, greater strategic convergence has recently occurred, primarily in the cases of heightened bilateral cooperation, parallel ties with the US, similar perceptions of the Indo-Pacific region, and concerns over China’s rising power. The obvious challenge, the author concludes, will be to sustain the new momentum the two countries have established.
