This brief analyzes the July 2016 results of the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) stress test, which were administered to 51 banking groups across the EU. The results show that the banking industry is largely responding to already identified risks, but specific tests have yet to gauge the fundamental soundness of the European banking sector, even though they’re also tasked to perform this objective.
