This brief addresses in parallel the victory of the Congress Party in India's 2009 elections and the victory of the Sri Lankan government in defeating the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The author calls on India, the regional superpower, to play an effective role in ensuring peace with justice for the minorities in Sri Lanka.
