This commentary evaluates the viability of an enduring resolution in light of the success of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces (SLAF) in defeating the Tamil Tigers. Set against the drop of the prevalent wisdom in counterinsurgency theory that the 'iron-fisted' approach to defeating insurgencies is counterproductive, the author argues that the case SLAF suggests that under the right conditions, a decisive battlefield victory is possible.
