This publication examines the perceptions that India's neighboring states could have of a Congress party-led India. The author assesses the impact of this election on regional stability and bilateral relations, taking into account India's position as the regional "preeminent power." The paper focuses particularly on Bhutan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, with the author concluding that the Congress party-led government can inspire confidence in its neighbors and contribute to regional stability.
