This publication analyzes Pakistani governmental initiatives in combating Islamist militants in the Swat valley and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The author briefly outlines the impact of the conflict before discussing US strategy with relation to Pakistan in this regard, and questions how far Pakistan would be willing to take the anti-militant operation forward.
