This brief discusses Mongolia's internal stability and two-party democracy as well as regional foreign relations in light of the inauguration of Tsakhia Elbegdorj as the country's next president on 18 June 2009. The author examines the political implications of the election results and comments on possible developments in Mongolia's foreign relations with regional actors such as Russia, China and Afghanistan.
