This report summarizes the findings of an APT regional seminar on the prevention of torture in the Caucasus, which convened in Gudauri, Georgia, 19-20 October 2001. It focuses on the role of national nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in monitoring and observation activities, but also addresses the need to make use of international mechanisms to advance the prevention of torture in the Caucasus.
