This paper presents a comparative study of truth commission in Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala and South Africa. It provides a general comparison, details reparation measures, calls attention to victims' perspectives and impressions, and sets forth recommendations. The authors' recommendations highlight the need for embracing the participation of victims and civil society.
