This paper assesses the implications of two terrorist bomb attacks on hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia on 17 July 2009. The author examines whether this development will shake the confidence of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or strengthen his resolve to lead the country back to its role as a key player in the region.
