This journal article discusses a specific website supporting Vermont Senator Howard Dean in the run-up to the primaries of the 2004 US presidential election. A new instrument in the growing digital media used in US presidential elections, the website allows visitors to punish editors who portray Dean negatively in their media outlets with a flood of protest mail and calls for corrections. Though the site raises questions of legitimacy and abuse, it shows that the internet still harbors much unused potential in political campaigning.
