This article analyzes the political coverage of the German national media outlets ARD and ZDF between 2001 and 2007. Using five indicators to perform a comparison, the report portrays these two outlets' coverage efforts in a negative light. The insufficient, biased and negative media coverage of politics and politicians in Germany offers explanations for the low electoral turnout in the country.
