This report compares coverage and content of foreign news by national media outlets in seven countries and the Arab region in 2006. Pan-Arab satellite TV stations showed the strongest focus on foreign news, while Italian stations produced the most inward-looking programs. The authors conclude that a big part of foreign news deals with foreign affairs as viewed from the perspective of the home country, thus focusing on the differences rather than on common ground.
