This paper discusses the role of the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty in post Cold War Europe as well as the impact of NATO enlargement on the Baltic Region. The author describes how both changes in the CFE Treaty as well as the process of NATO expansion have lead to a revised pattern of arms control and military balance in Europe.
