This report examines the response and achievements of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to the December 2004 tsunami disaster. It goes on to consider the SAF’s ability to respond to unconventional, non-defensive incidents, as well as to modernize and meet its responsibilities in more traditional fields.
