This report examines the consequences of US efforts to destroy its stockpile of chemical weapons, as perceived by those involved. It provides evidence and points of view from the US government and agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency. It discusses the issues surrounding chemical weapons destruction programs, including whether to keep or destroy weapons stockpiles, the timing and purposes of chemical disaster preparedness programs, the use of incinerators to destroy materials other than chemical weapons, and the use of weapons destruction technology.
