This commentary argues that to counter the ideology of extremists who are religiously motivated, proper intellectual rigor is of paramount importance. The authors outline how an intellectually rigorous response to religious extremism should be formulated to serve as a satisfying alternative to extremism while addressing the issues and problems that preoccupy the public.
