This paper analyzes the changing relationships of the EU-Russia-US triangle in different configurations. In particular, it looks at the relationship between the EU and Russia, which is qualified as being unstable, with their strategic interests not being convergent. The EU-Russia-US triangle is described as a system of variable alliances between any two of the three parties, whenever the third party gets out of line with the interests of the other two.
