This issue of the Canadian Military Journal (CMJ) opens with a lecture by John Ralston Saul, a Canadian author and essayist, on the Canadian Forces' (CF) involvement in irregular warfare. Next, it probes the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), discusses the transformation agenda for Canada's air force, and surveys the context within which the Canadian government penned the 1964 White Paper on Defense. It also considers Canada's maritime national security policy, discusses reforming and downsizing the CF following the end of the Cold War, and analyzes Canada's march toward military involvement in WWII.
