This brief analyzes the state of the EU Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH). It discusses REACH's milestones and the difficulties of its implementation in a non-technical fashion. The authors argue that the REACH regulation suffers from overly ambitious deadlines and from a number of technical and administrative uncertainties.
