This study provides a comprehensive, country-by-country evaluation of the adopted consumer credit laws in the 10 Central and Eastern Europe that are candidates for EU accession. The first section presents the historical background and a summary of relevant EU regulations. The next section describes the current consumer credit legislation and practice of the 10 countries - Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and the Slovak Republic.
