This brief discusses Sri Lanka's upcoming presidential election. It compares the two candidates, the current President Mahinda Rajapakse and his former chief of defense staff, Sarath Fonseka, and concludes that continuity is better than change; within the government, change is imperative; and between the government and the opposition, change may be better than continuity.
