This paper reviews recent efforts to reform the international financial architecture (IFA) in light of the 2008-09 financial crisis, and presents some thoughts on how Asia can strengthen its participation in the G20 in order to have a greater impact on IFA reforms. The author argues that Asian countries should lobby for the formalization and regularization of ASEAN's participation in G20 summits, as well as supporting the Global Governance Group convened by Singapore in order to coordinate Asian perspectives.
