This Paper discusses recent arms supplies to Somalia and to African external actors involved in the conflict, along with the risks associated with supplying arms to the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and its supporters. Section II gives brief background information on the conflict, armed actors in Somalia and the arms embargo whilst sections III and IV discusses arms flows to Somali opposition groups and Eritrea. Section V examines arms supplies to the TFG, and spplies to Ethiopia and participants in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) are discussed in section VI.
