This issue of the Russian Analytical Digest analyzes regional developments in Russia. First, Darrell Slider discusses Medvedev’s removal of important governors, culminating with Moscow’s Yuri Luzhkov. The author argues that these events mark a departure from the more incumbent-friendly policies of Putin. Second, Ekaterina Sokirianskaia discusses state-building and political integration in Ingushetia and Chechnya. Finally, Arbakhan Magomedov assesses political parties in Dagestan and the October 2010 local elections.
