This briefing paper reviews the issues at stake in Egypt's transition. It provides a snapshot of Egypt's current social and political predicament and describes the outcome of the recent parliamentary elections and their impact on the upcoming presidential contest. Finally, the paper evaluates the EU's relations with Egypt in the light of these events, and asks what kind of relationship the EU should develop with Egypt in the post-Mubarak era.
