In Autumn 2011, the Palestinian leadership intends to apply for Palestine to be accepted as a full member of the UN and recognized as an independent state. It can rely on the support of the greatest part of the international community, but can also be sure to see a US veto in the Security Council, which would suffice to stymie UN membership.
