Social activist Anna Hazare's 13-day hunger strike demanding a strong anti-corruption authority in India has made him a global name. His movement has been responsible for bringing corruption back to the top of the agenda in India. It has also galvanized a large number of people who are not usually known to take to the streets for political causes. However, the tide of positive coverage of the event has glossed over some problematic aspects of the goals and methods of the movement.
