This paper discusses the role of micro air vehicles (MAVs) in counterterrorist operations. The author explains that small and highly urbanized states such as Singapore can employ miniaturized unmanned systems to successfully defeat terrorist groupings. In particular, MAVs can be used to see beyond the conventional sight of soldiers, track down traces of biological and chemical agents, and feed real-time information back to the command center. In concluding, the author advises military leaders to exploit the potential of unmanned systems in order to deter terrorist organizations.
