Pakistan has just been elected to the Security Council with India’s support. The support, which came at a time when Pakistan’s relationship with the US and the West has deteriorated badly, displayed India's political maturity. Indeed, both the falling out and India's UN support may be inversely aiding Indo-Pak relations. Having said this, though, New Delhi will have to exercise considerable diplomatic artfulness and finesse to benefits from current circumstances.
