This paper talks about the difficulties the US and its partners are facing in their attempts to curtail the spread of Iran’s regional influence following the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. It argues that what the US and Gulf Cooperation Council member states need is a partner in their combined efforts to deal with Iran and that this can be found in the European members of NATO. It also talks about ongoing developments that could help the partnership in its aims.
