This brief discusses the implications of Japan's Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko late 2011 visit to India. The talks centered on issues such as infrastructure, energy and industry, nuclear and currency swap, the last with a view to stabilize their respective currencies. The talks also included a discussion on prospects for a pact on civil nuclear cooperation. The authors argue that the breadth of topics covered clearly demonstrates the fact that India and Japan are strategically important to one another.
