This paper discusses the rise of the strategic partnership between the entertainment industry and international armed forces. The author explains how while the movie making partnership between Hollywood and the Pentagon has existed for decades, the cooperation between software studios and the armed forces has really only started since the end of the Cold War. The paper describes how the technology driven transformation of global military processes as well as the easy availability of appropriate, relatively inexpensive, off-the-shelf software have contributed to such a development. The author argues that while there is nothing wrong with the extensive level of cooperation between the entertainment industry and the armed forces, the process may still raise some complex issues and several moral questions.
