This brief deals with the state of the Israel Defense Force (IDF) in the wake of the much-publicized conflict between the Israeli Minister of Defense and the outgoing Israel Defense Force Chief of Staff. The author argues that regardless of the negative publicity catalyzed by the controversy, the outgoing Israel Defense Force Chief of Staff was an effective and successful leader and that the IDF changed for the better during his tenure.
