This brief discusses Russia's political system in 2009. The author explores the changes in Russia's political system, the influence of the crisis and analyzes the relationship between society and authorities. The author argues that the political system as a whole has changed little since Putin’s second term as president. Deinstitutionalization and personalization of the system have persisted.
