This brief evaluates India's possible candidature to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and discusses how India should proceed to achieve this goal. The author evaluates the current political and technological environment, procedural problems and the parties' different interests and conditions. He concludes that, while both India and the NSG do not gain in the short-term from India’s integration into the NSG, they could expect to gain substantially in the long run.
