Publication

This paper explores how science can influence policy. It posits that science is a public good in its own right, and a means to help deliver other public goods such as a cleaner environment, improved health, better education, broad-based economic development and improving trust between citizens and their government. It recommends taking a "whole systems" approach to developing capacity in producing and using scientific research. Within government this means being clear about what the policy goals are and being open about what science is needed to inform the policy development and delivery processes.
